One Door Always Leads to Another

One door always leads to another...

Journal Entry 1; September 1
PERSON 1
The sun's shining rays scattered a morning glow around my room through my glass windows, awakening me to the most serene feeling. It was Sunday and early, but I yearned to follow through with my plans of having at least a "half-productive" afternoon, so I forced myself out of bed. Baby bluebirds were chirping in the distance, and a slight breeze filling the early sky. I soaked in the glow of the sun as I stood by my window, sighing, wishing that city life could be like this too. The flower seeds I had planted weeks ago on my window garden had finally started to blossom too. Picking up my phone, missed calls and unread messages took over my screen. Insta Dm's... messages... and I didn't even bother to see what else because I was in no mindset to deal with whatever they needed to say to me. It's why I came to my apartment, away from the city, in the first place. I shut down my phone with a frustrated sigh, double-checking the ringer wouldn't disturb me once again, and got along with my day.

Negative energy never sat with me well. People with hubris rubbed off on me like salt in a wound. I guess I've come to acceptance with that, but a world bereft of haters would be a dream that's too far away to come true. I headed downstairs to make myself breakfast and decided to play "you should see me in a crown," by Billie Eilish on my speaker. The first beat dropped, and I instinctively closed my eyes. For a moment, it felt as if a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders the moment I closed my eyes. A feeling crept through my stomach, and all of a sudden, my heart dropped as if I was falling and an unfamiliar world came into view, displayed underneath me.

Pitch black skies, steam rising off of the ground. It looked as if a natural calamity had struck this kingdom. A castle appeared too. Fire and lava oozing from windows, I came to the (very obvious πŸ™„) conclusion that I had no idea where I was, what alternate universe I was let into, or how to stop what I was seeing.

I turned around, taking in the view and a headache hit me the moment I set my eyes on a certain balcony of the castle, and all of a sudden a force pulled on my stomach and I was able to open my eyes again, finding myself back in my apartment. The last thing I remember from my "vision" was a girl with smoke curling and rising off of her as if she had been on fire. Her eyes glowed a pearlish-misty white, and a crown sat on her head... but it was tilted. Billie Eilish's words echoed in my head... "You should see me in a crown."

I gasped in panic, unsure of what had just happened and I felt a wave of uncontrollable nausea roll over me as my body's energy drained out. I backed up to stabilize myself using my kitchen island, but I was still slowly sliding. My neck and face were clammy with sweat, and then everything went black.

And that's the last thing I remember. . .

  3. Exquisite job, you are such an awesome writer. It came to my mind that my favorite song is "Good 4 U" by Olivia Rodrigo as I read such a meticulous piece. As you read my comment, you might think I can tell you this in person. Yes I can but as many people read your blog I also want to comment this to tell them you are the amazing writer you are. Hopefully they read this comment before they read your piece to know what is coming for them and how lucky the are to read your terrific piece.

  4. Omggg yesss we're talking about favorite songggsss. Any Tate McRae song is absolutely amazing (I'm one of her top 5% listeners πŸ˜… πŸ‘€ ). At the moment, though, I really like "ilicit affairs" by Taylor Swift, "Strawberries & Cigarettes" by Troye Sivan, "Slow Grenade" by Ellie Goulding and Lauv, and "Skinny Dipping" by Sabrina carpenter, plus a billion other songs πŸ˜‚ .

On a more relevant note, really good job with the writing Deea!!

  5. I love most Conan Gray songs, as Deea should already know. But other than him (I mean his songs), I like the Sour album by Olivia Rodrigo, many songs by Adele, One Direction's songs, and Justin Bieber's older songs (Yummy and Peaches are the worst things in existence).
