Cats are Unpredictable

I called his name, over and over, and (not to mention) over 100 times more. There was just no sign of him anyplace.

You see, my cat Adrian left me to cry in misery two weeks ago... he just disappeared... like the way those street magicians say, "Abracadabra!" and then the person in the box vanishes... just like that. Every day, I used to fill his food out for him and refill his water and milk bowl hoping that he would come home in search of a good meal. To no avail though, did he ever come home. One thing bothered me about this whole situation though... scratch that... make it two. I had raised my little Adrian, a Bengal Cat mind you since he was one day old. I had nursed him to health after finding him on the street outside my Beverly Hill home. You wouldn't be surprised to see Taylor Swift or Katy Perry cruising down the main street every two days or so.

The first thing that bothered me was how he had left... after all the love and time I spent on caring for him... my mini-best friend. The second thing that disturbed me was two weeks ago when he left to do- well, who-knows-what, I had found his food bowl cleared up. And that happened EVERY SINGLE NIGHT and I had no other animal friends and my doors were always locked at night and during the day. Also, my security cameras had no footage of any animal going through my doors or through the kitchen or through Adrian's room... and yes, I gave him his own kitty room. I mean, why not?

One day, on March 13, it had been exactly 21 days since my cat had disappeared and I decided that I needed my cheering squad to make me feel better. Crying my eyes out, locking myself up in my bedroom, sitting on my balcony sipping chai while talking to stuffed animals- that's all I did these days (It's sort of like when one character in a book gets super depressed because his dad just died of cancer and then the character just doesn't want to do anything anymore). Oh, and you might be wondering who the cheering squad is. Well, my friends do this thing where when one of us 8 is feeling bad, they go and plan something special to make that friend feel fresh again. An admirable system if you ask me but what they would do to get my spirits feeling fresh again, I didn't know.

So, on that same chilly, foggy, and overcast morning, I grabbed my newly bought I-phone 11 off my bedroom table and texted my 7 friends: Addy, Summer, Maggie, Lucky, Rayleigh, Caroline, Lizzie. I told them my situation and I needed help being happy again... responses came almost instantly (I wonder why) and they told me that they'd stop me in 20 minutes. Gosh, I wish that I could've seen what was coming but of course, in my sulky state, the day blurred by, like what you would expect while traveling a time machine.

"Ding ding, ding ding!" my doorbell rang 20 minutes after my text conversation... probably Lizzie... because she LOVES ringing the doorbell at everyone's home for some inexplicit reason. I opened the big black doors, encrusted with gold leaves and stained glass mini-windows, identical on each side, and let them in. One by one, they hugged me and went straight for my guest room... the room which we occupied to hang out whenever because it had a mini-kitchen sort of thing stocked with our favorite snacks. They had a large present with a hole in the back and there was definitely something living in that box... it was moving and shaking and they were trying their best to cover the hole. That got me slightly curious... I mean, your friends don't come by with an enormous box that bounces and wiggles every day.

When we had all settled down, Maggie started off by saying, "So, we know that you're bummed out 'cus of your cat and stuff but... wait till you see what we brought for you." I was slightly confused with her statement because Maggie looked way too excited than what how she usually was. Summer and Addy brought the box out and Lucky, Rayleigh, and Caroline unboxed it. Very slowly, a small head popped out of the top. Something looked way too familiar about that head. Anyway, the rest of the cat came out as well, and then I realized it was my little Adrian!

I felt short of breath and when I inhaled, my throat hurt. The cat gazed upon me and then did a strange motion: he sort of half galloped, half walked, and half-ran towards me. I don't know how to describe it any better though. There was something about Adrian though that made him move like that. As he settled into my lap and slashed his tail at the air like there was a little bee buzzing around, I focused my gaze at his body and that was it.... it was GINORMOUS... all I was able to stammer was, "OH MY GOSH..."

  1. Deea! OMG I luv it! I would be lying if I said I read it only once! One thing I notice in good books is that the author really taps into the emotion. Like how you tapped into the the main character's emotion. It really puts the story in perspective! It's like how I would feel if I lost a dear pet... Over all this was a really good story! I cant wait for part 2! Plzz keep writing!

  11. Such a cute story Dea. It's great that you are writing and I love the style. You know I have a cat too. He stays with me and a friend. Cats are usually dispassionate and curious, that's what make them very special and fun. Unlike Bushy, who loves to hang with everyone, cats have a mind of her own. We're going to soooo connect on cats!! Keep up the writing and I will frequently visit your blog. I think it's a great way to catch up with what's going with you. :) You have wonderful friends and it warms my heart to see you all care for each other. I wonder what Naya was upto all this while? :D Was she also sad or consoling you like a big sister who is actually younger to you? I have so many questions!! I miss you both!!! Love- mamu. <3
